This double bill concert features Reyna & The Rustics and 11 Strings\, two upstate NY Bluegrass bands putting their own personal flair to bluegrass! \nReyna & The Rustics deliver a toe-tapping mix of original tunes\, bluegrass\, country\, and blues with distinctive vocals\, solid harmonies\, a unique blend of instruments and down home flavor. The trio formed in 2021 with Reyna Stagnaro (tenor guitar\, mandolin)\, John Crespi (guitar\, harmonica)\, and Steve Skollar (mandolin). They have been performing regularly in Central New York with wide appeal. Friends for decades\, their camaraderie and tight musicianship shines through with a signature mix of Reyna’s originals\, unique covers\, and instrumentals. Songs from hill and holler; entertainment and enjoyment guaranteed from this lively group! \n11 Strings began as a college duo nearly two decades ago when husband and wife Cody and Shayla Witherell first started playing music together. Over the years\, their passion for bluegrass grew\, and they recently expanded their sound with the addition of Mike Cook on upright bass\, officially making 11 Strings a trio. Though now technically 15 Strings\, they’re keeping the original name! The band specializes in traditional bluegrass favorites that resonate with audiences of all ages\, lead female singing\, skilled instrumentation\, and an infectious energy that keeps toes tapping. A freelance musician and owner and operator of both Music With Liz studio and The State Bridge Collective\, she is a versatile violinist and heavily involved in collaborations with many musicians. Her music draws influence from western\, swing and her sound is very rootsy\, Appalachian.\n\nJeff Ingersoll\nDrawing from a deep well of influences ranging from the classic bluegrass of his childhood to the jazz\, swing\, Celtic and pop music he discovered during his tenure at ETSU\, Ingersoll has earned accolades for his work with a broad spectrum of performing ensembles. In 2013\, he secured first place in the Norwich Bluegrass Festival Band Competition as a member of the Ingersoll Brothers.\n\n\nJeff and Liz started making music together late in 2022 and have been exhilarating audiences throughout the east coast ever since. Though each of them have a unique set of varied influences\, they find common ground in singer/songwriter\, folk and American genres of music. They are equally at home performing at a small business\, concert hall or theater\, church\, or private function. The two wield a beautiful folk-grass sound. It features many well-known holiday and seasonal selections. Lively and jazzy melodies such as We Need a Little Christmas\, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year\, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will be performed alongside familiar carols like Adeste Fideles\, In Dulci Jubilo\, Bring a Torch Jeannette Isabella\, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen\, and several more. This year\, Jewel Winds is joined by accomplished Syracuse-area pianist Robbie Padilla\, who will perform holiday piano solos as well as collaborations with the winds. \n“From Deck the Halls to We Wish You a Merry Christmas\, and everything in between\, this family-friendly concert will contain a great many seasonal favorites\,” noted Jewel Winds clarinetist\, Colleen O’Neil. “There is something for everyone to enjoy. The musical selections will be interspersed with poems reflecting the ambiance\, joy and humor of the season\, making the performance even more special. And\, capping off the evening\, there’s a post-concert reception to which all are invited.” \nThe musicians also note that Rome Art and Community Center looks even more beautiful than usual at this time of year\, as it is opulently decorated for the Christmas season.
