SUMMARY:SUBMISSION DEADLINE | Capturing Stillness: A Group Art Exhibition Exploring the Timeless Genre of Still Life
DESCRIPTION:“Capturing Stillness” is a free\, open-call\, non-juried\, salon-style group art exhibition that brings together a diverse group of artists exploring the timeless genre of still life through contemporary perspectives. Each work transforms ordinary objects—fruit\, flowers\, vessels\, and found materials—into meditations on light\, texture\, and meaning. \nThe exhibition celebrates the art of observation\, in which the familiar becomes extraordinary through the artist’s gaze. Through painting\, photography\, sculpture\, and mixed media\, the participating artists invite viewers to pause and rediscover beauty in the overlooked details of daily life\, capturing the stillness that speaks volumes. \nArt will be accepted on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nTo be included in the exhibition\, artwork MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY to executivedirector@romeart.org by Friday\, December 5\, 2025. \nDue to a priority on diversity of artists\, please limit artwork to 3 pieces. \nPlease submit all work in JPG format\, labeled with the title of the piece and dimensions\, including the frame. For example: Ghostlylandscape22x36.jpg. Please reduce file sizes to a maximum of 2.5MB per photo. \nAll works must be ready for hanging/display at the time of delivery. (i.e.\, wired adequately for hanging\, clean\, etc.) Wall art must be appropriately framed or be ready for presentation if it is not already framed. Wires should not extend beyond the top of the frame as they cannot be shown during the exhibition\, no clip frames. \nArtwork must be delivered or mailed; late work will not be accepted. Work may be offered during business hours the week of. Be prepared to provide information about your work to complete a Loan Agreement at the time of delivery. The required information includes the artist’s name\, address\, phone number\, title\, year\, medium\, dimensions (including the frame)\, and price. Please use a removable sticker or a Post-it note to label your work on the front\, so it will be easy for us to identify when hanging your labels. RACC will retain a 30% commission on artwork sold during the exhibition. DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the partnership between the Rome Art and Community Center and The Mohawk Valley Bluegrass Association the Mohawk Valley Bluegrass Band will present a Christmas Concert\, featuring favorite Christmas songs and tunes played Bluegrass style. The band will also play a few Bluegrass favorites as well as some Christmas novelty songs. \nThe Concert will be for the benefit of the Rome Art and Community Center. \nThe Mohawk Valley Bluegrass Band is composed of musicians who are members of the Mohawk Valley Bluegrass Association. \n$5 Donation at the door. It will be a delightful evening of creativity\, relaxation\, and socializing. \nCost: $40 for RACC Members\, $45 for Non-Members\nTickets include all materials\, drinks\, and snacks! \nAndrea Grellman-Smith will be leading the class. With over a decade of experience teaching and designing paintings for classes like these\, she makes it easy for anyone to create a beautiful work of art! \nRegister Here \nBiography:\nAndrea Grellman-Smith is a painter who has focused her art on landscapes\, portraits of people\, and pets\, created in oil\, acrylic\, and watercolor. She is a graduate of SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art. After graduation\, she worked as an instructor at Painting With A Twist\, teaching people how to paint with acrylics. She also worked with Painting With A Twist Corporate as a design artist to create new art for all the franchises nationally. Recently relocated to the Rome\, NY area\, Andrea has set up her studio and is currently taking commissions and teaching privately. \n  \n
