Join us at the Rome Art and Community Center for “The Lost Child: A Theatrical Musical Suite with Narration” Monday, March 30th at 6:30 PM.

“The Lost Child: A Theatric Musical Suite with Narration” is composed by Joseph Karwacki and will be performed by the ensemble Punctum Originem.

The ensemble Punctum Originem is made up of Joseph Karwacki, Double Bass/Composer, Tamaralee Shutt, Singer/Narrator, Elizabeth Evans, Flautist, Sar-Shalom Strong, Pianist, and Matthew Rockwell, Drummer.

The Lost Child is a 55-minute multi-movement suite that navigates the tension between human emotion and scientific inquiry, the profound juxtaposition of Time, Creation, Memory, and Science.

 

Featured Artist Bios
Joseph Karwacki (Double Bass/Composer): A graduate of the Ithaca College
School of Music, Joseph has served as Principal Bassist for the Utica Symphony
Orchestra for over 40 years. Throughout a prolific career, he has shared the stage
with legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, and Mstislav Rostropovich. As an
educator and former president of Stage Music Piano Co., his compositions have
been performed at national conventions and by members of the Syracuse
Symphony.

Tamaralee Shutt (Singer/Narrator): A multi-talented freelance graphic artist and
musician based in Syracuse, NY. Tamaralee’s performance history dates back to
the 1980s in musical theater. She has performed with the indie rock unit I Am
Fool and jazz ensembles including Serendipity and the Salt City Jazz Collective.
She brings a versatile instrumental background and a commanding vocal
presence to this suite.

Elizabeth Evans (Flute): An accomplished soloist and chamber musician,
Elizabeth is frequently featured in high-profile regional ensembles, including
the Alliance Classical Players. Known for her versatility across genres, she has
performed cornerstone works like Claude Bolling’s Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano.
Her technical precision and expressive phrasing make her a vital voice in
exploring the ethereal themes within The Lost Child.

Sar-Shalom Strong (Piano): A Lecturer in Piano at Hamilton College, Sar-Shalom
is a highly sought-after collaborative artist who has performed with  Symphoria .
He is a core member of the Society for New Music and has recorded for the
Innova and Naxos labels. A recipient of the Steinway Top Teacher Award, he
brings unparalleled harmonic depth to this suite.

Matthew Rockwell (Drums): A Manhattan School of Music alumnus and owner
of Anecdote Music Publications, Matthew has over 30 years of experience
across jazz, rock, and avant-garde styles. He has performed at Carnegie Recital
Hall and collaborated with artists such as Natalie Cole. As the leader of
the Matthew Rockwell Group, he is a specialist in complex rhythmic training and
contemporary percussion textures.
